THE Kanoa Football Club claimed the A division championship of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2024 after triumphing in a thrilling finale against Shirley’s Football Club, 1-0, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Sunday.

It only took 12 minutes before Kanoa FC’s Ye Lynn Ha drained what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Both teams played as equals with each side creating a series of shot opportunities. However, a lead pass from midfield found Ha unguarded with enough room to push the possession forward. Before the defense was able to close in, she was able to wind up and perform a low inside shot that slipped through the defenders as well as the goalkeeper to find the corner of the goal post and give Kanoa the lead, 1-0.

Shirley’s used every trick in the book — from lob passes and physical pressure — to create scoring opportunities. However, each attempt was disrupted by Kanoa’s endless pressure to force the ball out or to intercept it.

The back-and-forth battle continued throughout the second half, but with neither team able to find the back of the net, Kanoa clinched the A division title.

Paire vs MP United

In the battle for third place, Paire Football Club edged MP United Football Club Pink in another thriller, 2-1.

MPU Pink’s Pia Ngewakl drew first blood within the first seven minutes, but her team was silenced for the remainder of the match while PFC cooked up a rally in the second half with Jannah Casarino and Aubrey Castro connecting the daggering goals at the 45th and 59th marks to steal the win.

Individual awards were handed out during the closing ceremony following the matches.

Kanoa FC’s Yelynn Ha was the Player of the Match (finals) while the Golden Boot Award went to Paire FC’s Jannah Casarino.

The Golden Glove awardee was Shirley’s FC’s Toremy Baek while Shirley’s FC’s Aylssa Borlongan received the Fair Play Award.
