AT their membership meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Saipan Rotary Club President Joann Aquino said Tinian and Rota are each receiving an echo cardiogram machine, thanks to the club’s partnership with the Rotary Club of Tokyo West.
Aquino said members of Rotary Club of Tokyo West will be on Saipan on Dec. 1 with the machines. On Dec. 2, the two clubs will formally donate the machines to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation at 10 a.m.
On Dec. 3, the officers of Rotary Club of Saipan and the Rotary Club of Tokyo West will travel to Tinian for the donation ceremony there.
The machine can provide a detailed view of the heart, as well as how blood flows through it. It can measure the heart’s size and shape, how well its valves work, and test the sped of blood leaving the heart.
Thanksgiving donation
Additionally, as part of their annual community activities, Aquino shared that on Nov. 19, the local Rotarians provided a Thanksgiving lunch to senior citizens at the Manamko’ Center in Garapan.
Herman’s Modern Bakery catered the food, which was enough for 120 individuals.
Rotarians, Rotaract and Interact members were present to volunteer at the event.
In her remarks to the manamko’, Aquino called them the “keepers of our stories” and the “guardians of our traditions.”
“Our theme, ‘the Magic of Rotary,’ is about creating moments like these where we can pause, honor, and celebrate the pillars of our community,” she said.
