RENE Batallones and Patrick Cepeda have joined the list of the Saipan Golf Association’s monthly winners after emerging victorious in the September and August Ace of the Month tournaments at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort
On Sept. 29, 2024, Batallones played exceptionally well throughout the tournament, shooting a gross of 46 on the front nine and 42 on the back for an accumulated gross score of 88. Sporting a handicap of 14, he was lifted toward overall third place with a net score of 74.
But because the top two golfers had already won previous ace tournaments, the September title was awarded to Batallones.
In first place was Das Krishnan who shot a gross of 39 on the front nine and 43 on the back for a gross total of 82, which, aided by a handicap of 11, game him a net score of 71.
Alex Tudela came in second with a net score of 73.
In the optional play, the closest to the pin winners were Joe I. Sablan for hole #4; Tony Reyes, hole #6; and Jung Eun Teack, hole #15. The longest drive winners were Jung Eun Teack for hole #3, and Freddie Cataluna for hole #18.
August Ace
Patrick Cepeda earned the August Ace title on Aug. 25, 2024 at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.
Cepeda did not triumph with ease as he only won by one stroke. He shot a gross of 45 and 46 for a total gross score of 91. With an 18 handicap, his net score was 73.
In second place was Larry Guerrero with a net score of 74 while Ed Manibusan came in third with a net score of 75.
In the optional play, the closest to the pin winners were Jung Eun Teack for hole #4; Frances Sablan, hole #7; and Ed Manibusan, hole #13. The longest drive winners were Rick Kautz for hole #2, and Tony Deleon Guerrero for hole #18.
The other 2024 SGA Aces of the Month so far are Larry Deleon Guerrero (January), Alex Tudela (February), Nick Sablan (March), Das Krishnan (April), Joe I. Sablan (May), Freddie Cataluna (June), and Jung Eun Teack (July).
The 2024 October Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27, at the LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort west course with a show time of 8:30 a.m. and tee time of 9 a.m.
