ATKINS Kroll opened its new, 15,000-square meter, $23 million facility in Puerto Rico on Monday, Nov. 18.
AK now sells Lexus vehicles, in addition to Toyotas, on Saipan, a first for the CNMI. AK has also expanded its body and service department to accommodate customers.
AK Saipan General Manager Tracy Guerrero was on hand to guide the media on a tour of the facility.
She said Atkins Kroll is “very proud to be the first Lexus dealership” in the CNMI. Their new showroom facility will keep customer comfort in mind, she added.
“The show room is designed to have separate experiences for our Toyota customers and a slightly elevated experience for our Lexus customers,” she said.
Customers of either Toyota or Lexus will be able to use the new facility’s customer discussion rooms. Customers will be in a comfortable setting as sales associates, finance staff, and others bring the appropriate documents to them.
The new facility’s service department comprises 12 service bays with brand new equipment, including a new alignment machine and a tire repair machine. All the lifts are brand new as well, and Guerrero told the media that Toyota technicians have been “really excited” by all the new investments Atkins Kroll is making in their departments.
The body shop will feature a car alignment machine, which, according to Vincent Tudela, Atkins Kroll after-sales manager, is another first for the CNMI.
“What this [car alignment machine] allows us to do is fix almost every car that’s been in a real bad accident, including a rollover,” he said. “Usually…, a rollover is considered a total loss because we don’t have the proper machinery to actually repair them. Now we can.”
Tudela said the machine allows technicians to return the damaged vehicles back to “one thousandths of an inch” within factory specifications.
They can also repair cars that are not Lexus or Toyota vehicles, he said.
The body repair department likewise features two paint booths.
At the tour’s conclusion, Guerrero said Atkins Kroll’s multi-million-dollar investment in the CNMI is a “testament to where we think the economy will be moving forward.”
She said that although the CNMI goes through “peaks and troughs” with its economy, the company believes that it will pick up eventually.
A media release from AK stated that there are special discounts and test drives as the facility celebrates its soft opening.
Guerrero said a grand opening will occur in the future.
Residents are welcome to visit the facility from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. AK’s phone number has not changed. It’s still (670) 234-5911.
