670 Rollers 2 bested Barbie Salon/5P’s Colecciones, 68-64, in the U17 division of the 2nd Saipan Magalahi Eagles Club – Saipan MagaHaga Lady Eagles Group Basketball Tournament at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium on Sunday.
Rollers 2 were in control in the first half thanks to the sheer grit of Slymark Defang, who powered his way inside and scored six points and a pair of triples.
On the opposing end, Barbie Salon/5P’s Colecciones struggled to find their rhythm, but they eventually cooked up a quick rally led by Webb Alano, who delivered 12 points.
For their part, Rollers 2’s Evan Cabrera, Marc Tengco and Niko Paul scored a pair of buckets each to push a double-digit gap, 37-22.
Barbie Salon/5P’s Colecciones then fought their way back in the second half.
Alano picked up where he left off, but this time with the support needed as teammate Kennu Laquian heated up, and the duo became a consistent threat throughout the next 15 minutes of the game to cut down Rollers 2’s lead.
However, every Rollers 2 player on the court posed a threat with Heman Addy and James Matsumoto taking over crunch time, notching 12 points to keep their team afloat long enough to lock in the win, 68-64.
Triple R Auto Parts vs Ol’Aces
Triple R Auto Parts outlasted Ol’Aces, 58-50.
The game was marked by intense action in the first half.
Triple R’s motor was powered by Christian Lucero, who scored 12 points while Ol’Aces’ buckets were delivered by Theo Joab, Jayvan Johnny, Javen Camacho, and Omari Joab to tie the score, 28-28, at halftime.
There were several lead exchanges throughout the second half, but before the dust settled, Triple R was saved by Lucero’s performance, scoring 13 points to secure the win over Ol’Aces, 58-50.
