MPU’s Addalee Tafinger attempts a shot during a U17 girls division game of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 tournament at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
MP United Football Club collected their sixth win in the U17 girls division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 tournament by beating the Paire Football Club, 4-2, at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Saturday.
MPU players quickly established control of the pace as they weaved through defenders within the first three minutes and created an opening for Ella Hall, who finished the play for a 1-0 lead.
The forward pressure seemed too much for PFC as two more goals were added: by Hall at the 7th minute mark, and by teammate Jang at the 15th minute mark to further extend the deficit, 3-0.
PFC, however, was able to capitalize on an interception that resulted in a transition play led by Phoenix Gross, who broke the silence at the 26th minute mark, 1-3.
PFC entered the second half with a different defensive approach, which seemed to work during the first few possessions. However, it did not take long before MPU wore down PFC’s defensive walls and connected their fourth goal at the 44th mark to maintain a comfortable distance, 4-1.
Although PFC did not have enough time to make a comeback, they made sure they went down fighting with Gross scoring her second goal at the 58th minute mark to ease the pain of defeat at the hands of MPU, 2-4.
