Road construction at Outer Cove Marina

(American Memorial Park) — We appreciate the community’s patience as work progresses to replace the shoreline barrier at Outer Cove Marina.  Construction of the new rock revetment at the east end is nearing completion. On Oct. 8, work will begin on repairs to the road near slips D2-12 to D2-32. The road will remain open, but access will be limited to a single lane and some of the parking in that area will be unavailable. Large trucks and buses should avoid entering the construction zone. Construction in that area should be completed by the weekend, depending on weather and other unavoidable delays.

Construction of the first section of the new rock revetment along the Smiling Cove channel is also nearing completion. Work will then shift to the south and end near the transient docks. Boaters are asked to reduce their speed significantly in the construction zone. A new sidewalk and swale will be constructed along the road leading to Outer Cove to improve drainage during storms and provide a safe walking path to the marinas. Completion of the entire project is projected for the spring of 2025.
