GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios on Tuesday last week approved House Local Bill 23-56 to appropriate $120,000 of the remaining balance of Saipan’s share of the casino license fee collection paid by Imperial Pacific International seven years ago.

Authored by Rep. Manny Gregory T. Castro of Precinct 2, H.L.B. 23-56 is now Saipan Local Law 23-20.

According to the Department of Finance’s fund certification, there is still $791,363.35 left from the $1,035,000 allotted to the Third Senatorial District out of the $15 million in casino license fee that the CNMI government collected from IPI in 2018.

The $120,000 is appropriated by S.L.L. 23-20 as follows:

• $5,000 for Youth Affairs community projects in Precinct 2.

• $10,000 for Substance Abuse, Addiction and Rehabilitation’s projects and initiatives in Precinct 2.

• $15,000 for Department of Corrections projects in Precinct 2.

• $90,000 for Division of Parks and Recreation projects in Precinct 2.
