JP Sablan and Manny Castro
PRECINCT 2 Reps. John Paul Sablan and Manny Gregory T. Castro are inviting members of the community to help clean up the Chalan Kanoa cemetery.
In their joint invitation letter on Wednesday, Sablan and Castro said they are “reaching out to invite you to a special community event this Saturday as we come together to honor our past and care for our shared spaces.”
The cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
“Let us join the [Saipan] Mayor’s Office and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation for a cleanup at the Chalan Kanoa cemetery. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only beautify our community but also to reflect on the history and memories that this sacred place holds,” Sablan and Castro said.
Saipan Mayor Ramon Blas “RB” Camacho is also “calling on the families who have loved ones buried in the cemetery to join the cleanup effort.”
The mayor said families and individuals who want to participate can contact Saipan Mayor’s Office at (670) 234-6208.
Sablan and Castro said the public’s participation is vital. “By coming together, we can show our respect for those who have come before us and foster a spirit of unity in our community. Let’s make a positive impact together. We look forward to seeing you there.”
