THE Northern Mariana Islands Football Association and instructor Takahiro Suzuki of Japan will host a two-day coaching seminar next week at the Oleai Sports Complex and the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Suzuki is Japan’s U17 National Team coach as well as the U14 Elite Program coach and the Japan Football Association Youth Development chief (Hokkaido).
The seminar will highlight World Frontline Football-Japan Way Presentation, a practical session, training planning, and youth development.
The first day will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Oleai Sports Complex while the second day will be broken down into two sessions starting at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the NMI Soccer Training Center, and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Oleai Sports Complex.
The seminar will be open to any interested coaches for free, but they must register at https://forms.gle/2Ba8oJ3qB6PP7xaq6
Individuals must attend the sessions in proper attire — no slippers.
“Considering the environment in the CNMI, we don’t have so many opportunities to have some learning from outside of the country unless we go overseas. It will be beneficial to have a professional coach from Japan who has really excellent experiences,” said NMI Men’s U20 National Team head coach Konomi Suzuki.
“He has various kinds of coaching experiences from grassroots to the Japanese U15 National Team. Therefore, regardless of the categories, a lot of coaches will be able to learn from him,” Konomi added.
Takahiro was Konomi’s former head coach in junior high school.
