THE Marianas High School Dolphins rallied in the fifth inning to beat the Kagman High School Ayuyus and bag their second straight victory in the Public School System Boys Fastpitch Softball Tournament at the Dandan Middle School ballfield on Monday.
Down by six runs in the bottom of the fourth, the Dolphins kept the Ayuyu runners stranded on the bases, thanks to pitcher Chase Dela Cruz, who recorded three strikeouts in the game.
For his part, second baseman Hunter Dela Cruz drove in two runs while right fielder Herbit Villagomez sent a runner home on base-on-ball to give the Dolphins the lead, 12-10. It was Dela Cruz’s third run-scoring base hit in the game. He also notched RBI singles in the first and third innings.
Third baseman Joel Cabrera delivered three two-run-scoring base hits while centerfielder Mychel Deleon Guerrero drove in two runs in the fourth.
Shortstop Jake Aguon blasted a two-RBI single, his second in the game, to stretch the lead in the sixth inning and secure the win, 15-13.
In the opening game on Saturday, the Dolphins defeated the Mount Carmel School Knights, 13-11.
