SHIRLEY Sablan, president and CEO of Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc., said a down economy is a reminder that insurance and financial protection is extremely important, especially when slow times are caused by unexpected and devastating events.

“Economies are affected by a variety of factors that may include sudden and unexpected natural and humanitarian disasters. A prime example is the recent Covid-19 global pandemic,” she said. “Insurance was designed to protect individuals and businesses from the unexpected. The good news is we can plan ahead of time for these sudden and unexpected events to prevent a catastrophic personal and/or commercial financial situation.”

She said Pacifica Insurance is a “full line insurance agency” that offers both personal and commercial lines products. Products include coverage for homeowners, automobile, health, vision, dental, life, commercial property, commercial liability, workers compensation, marine, bonding, builder’s risk, contractor’s all-risk, student accident, travel, cybercrime, professional liability, directors and officers, aviation, ports, fine arts and antiques, title, crane operations, and other kinds of coverage.

Sablan emphasized the company’s five decades of operation as evidence of its ability to navigate the “ever-changing” needs of the business community.

“We have also witnessed the diversification of industries and a great number of businesses established over the years that have sought our consultation for insurance protection,” she said. “Our role is to provide options to anyone looking to protect themselves financially. And if money does matter, we know that protecting assets and investments through insurance matters just as much, because it is one thing to make and grow money, it is quite another to protect it.”

Sablan said insurance is never a “one-size-fits-all” product. The team at Pacifica Insurance will work with clients “before offering coverage options to ensure they acquire an insurance policy with adequate coverage.”

She directs potential clients to their office in the Joeten Building across from the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in Susupe. Pacifica Insurance’s hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

“Small business owners or anyone who is in the business planning phase can visit us during normal business hours to explore coverage options,” she said. “We understand the challenges small businesses go through and look forward to taking them through the process one step at a time and will design a program that is unique to their business needs. We have been helping small businesses for over five decades and we understand that they [are] the backbone of an economy and our role is to support them and help them succeed.”
