THE Last Shot Fighters bagged their 17th win in the Tuesday B division of the 2024 SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League by outplaying  the Black 8 Crooked Arrow, 9-4, at the Black 8 Pool Bar on Tuesday night.

In the first two games of the Singles 8-Ball match, the Crooked Arrow’s Gus Taitano and Rex Tasi triumphed over the Fighters’ Kristoffer Laquian and Cadmiel Aque.

But the Fighters’ Charis Conlu and Jess Farinas won the remaining two games for the first deadlock of the night, 2-2.

After another split in the first set of the Partners 8-Ball games, the Fighters found their strength individually and pulled a clean sweep in the second set of Singles 8-Ball games to grasp control, 7-3.

Taitano and John Magofna then won the first game in the second set of Partners 8-Ball, but the final two games were claimed by the Fighters to seal the deal, 9-4.

Rustlers vs Slayers

Also victorious were the Black 8 Ideal Signs Rustlers who stunned the top seed VFW Slayers, 7-6.

The Slayers started strong with Eric Baugh, Jerry Soriano and Fel Kalen recording a 3-1 run in the opening set of the Singles 8-Ball games. The Slayers then split the next set of Partners 8-Ball games, but lost grip when the Rustlers suddenly found their second wind led by Chester Hamoy, Rowel “Cobra” Mariano, Toto Bigcas, and Robert Sanciangco, who swept the second set of Singles 8-Ball games to seize the lead, 6-4.

The Slayers returned the favor with a two-win sweep in the second set of partners games to tie the game once again, 6-6.

The Slayers’ Ray “Stingray” Matsunaga and Kalen fought hard, but they were no match to Hamoy and Sanciangco, who claimed the final Partners 8-Ball game for a 7-6 match victory.
