Karl King-Nabors
A SENATE special committee wants to see the personal ledger of CNMI Treasurer Asuncion S. Agulto pertaining to American Rescue Plan Act funds.
Sen. Karl King-Nabors, who chairs the special panel on the government’s Bank of Guam investment account, also informed Agulto that due to the volume of the documents she has provided, the committee needs additional time to review them, so they need to reschedule Agulto’s appearance before the committee.
The committee was set to convene on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024, but King-Nabors told Agulto she did not have to appear on that date and time.
He also told Agulto that based on their review of the documents she and the Department of Finance have provided, the committee found it necessary to identify actual documents regarding specific drawdowns on specific dates.
King-Nabors asked Agulto to provide the committee “relevant bank statements as to what was drawn on a specific date, where the funds went and the expenditure of the funds.”
Additionally, he said the committee is requesting a copy of her personal ledger and personal notes relating to ARPA funds.
Formed by Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, the special committee was tasked to investigate the $225 million in ARPA funds deposited into Bank of Guam by the previous administration.
Besides King-Nabors, the other members of the special committee are Senate Floor Leader Corina L. Magofna, Sen. Dennis C. Mendiola and Sen. Jude U. Hofschneider.
The special panel will also look into the government’s ARPA expenditures from 2021 to 2024.
