THE Department of Land and Natural Resources-Animal Health Division has been conducting a comprehensive livestock survey across Saipan. This initiative aims to gather critical data to enhance animal health and production programs for the benefit of local ranchers and the broader community.
The survey began on Saipan on July 1, 2024. Animal Health staff coordinate with and visit ranchers to conduct the survey, asking standardized questions meant to provide a more in-depth view of the unique needs of ranchers in the community. The survey is ongoing on Saipan and will continue through the month of August, moving from south to north. So far, Animal Health staff have surveyed 20 ranchers. The survey will then be extended to Tinian and Rota.
The collected data will be instrumental in identifying the needs and challenges faced by ranchers, allowing the Animal Health Division to tailor its support and seek resources more effectively.

Ranchers’ participation is crucial for the success of this initiative. By providing detailed and accurate information, they will contribute significantly to shaping the future of livestock and poultry programs in the region.
