THE Department of Finance-Division of Revenue and Taxation is pleased to announce the successful completion of the CNMI Tax Settlement Series, which was held from June 4 to 13, 2024, in collaboration with the University of Baltimore School of Law Taxpayer Clinic and Azarvand Tax Law. Under special orders from DRT, these organizations provided free assistance to approximately ninety CNMI taxpayers, helping businesses and individuals resolve their outstanding tax debts and offering them a path toward financial stability.
In an ongoing effort to support taxpayers and encourage tax compliance, DRT has been working to draft settlement agreements tailored to each taxpayer’s unique circumstances. These agreements offer substantial relief for taxpayers and provide a clear path to financial recovery, provided that the taxpayers adhere to the agreed-upon payment plan and maintain compliance for the specified period.
Looking forward, this successful initiative represents a model for future outreach programs.
The Division of Revenue and Taxation remains committed to fostering a transparent, fair, and supportive tax environment for all our taxpayers. This collaborative initiative benefits the individuals and businesses who participate and strengthens the economic well-being of the community.
