JHOY Revilla was the overall winner in the fitness pageant of the 202 Dee Clayton Classic & Northern Marianas Bodybuilding Federation competition at Saipan World Resort on Saturday.
Revilla and six other contestants battled for the coveted title by showcasing their elegant gowns that complimented their figures.
Revilla, 35, gave a good show and claimed first place in the masters division as well.
It was her first competition on Saipan, but she had participated in similar pageants in the Philippines.
“I was shocked but I’m happy, of course, because my friends and family are watching me compete,” Revilla said. “I know that the DC Classic is a big event,” she added.
Revilla thanked her family and extended family as well as Dee Clayton and everyone that competed in the event.
When asked if she will compete again next year, she answered, “Why not if I can.”
There were no female bodybuilding competitors this year and the participant turnout was a lot smaller than it usually was.
Organizer Dee Clayton said “sometimes they want to take a break. Some of them are single moms and are also hardworking.”
She said others may be preparing for the next off-island event such as the one on Guam slated for September.
“But my event is always exciting and I’m always looking forward to our community to be involved. I really enjoy doing it for the public and I will keep going as long as they are enjoying themselves,” she added.
Clayton said she plans to do something different in future events. “I want to do things such as beauty pageants for senior citizens or top models. It’s nice to do something different, but bodybuilding will always be the main event,” she added.
Next year will mark the 15th anniversary of the DC Classic.
