DLNR to conduct livestock survey

(DLNR) — The Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Animal Health Division is launching a comprehensive livestock survey across Saipan, Rota and Tinian. This initiative aims to gather critical data to enhance animal health and production programs for the benefit of local ranchers and the broader community.

The survey will begin on Saipan on July 1, 2024. Animal Health staff will coordinate with and visit Saipan ranchers to conduct the survey and ask questions. The survey will then be expanded to Tinian and Rota.

Collected data will be instrumental in identifying the needs and challenges faced by ranchers, allowing the Animal Health Division to tailor its support and seek resources more effectively.

“We are committed to improving the health and productivity of livestock in the CNMI,” said Lauren Cabrera, animal health manager of DLNR. “This survey will provide us with the necessary insights to develop better programs and services that directly address the concerns of our local ranchers.”

The survey will explore areas such as animal health needs, challenges faced by ranchers, animal reproduction, and more.

Ranchers’ participation is crucial for the success of this initiative. By providing detailed and accurate information, they will contribute significantly to shaping the future of livestock and poultry programs in the region.
