LIEUTENANT Gov. David M. Apatang on Tuesday signed a proclamation designating May 21-26 as Memorial Week. On Monday, May 27, the CNMI will join the nation in commemorating Memorial Day.

CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs Executive Director Bernie Dela Cruz said the Memorial Day services will take place at 9 a.m. at the Marpi Veterans Cemetery.

In addition to servicemembers and their family members buried at the cemetery, the CNMI will also honor the local Marine Scouts, who helped ensure the safety of U.S. servicemembers and local civilians in the aftermath of the Battle of Saipan.
