THE grand raffle prize at this year’s Las Vegas Night — a brand new vehicle from Triple J Motors or $10,000 in cash — went to biker Oscar S. Calage.
He was not present when his name was called, but he did not need to be in order to win, Rotary Club of Saipan President Irene Holl said, adding that they will contact him.
In the Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament, the top three finishers were Matthew Holley in first place, Conor Trenton in second, and Jeff Garcia in third.
The other games featured this year included roulette, blackjack and bingo.
Held at the Crowne Plaza Resort, the Rotary Club of Saipan’s fundraising event began at 11 a.m. and ended at around 11:59 p.m.
Holl said this year’s turnout was lower than previous years. The last Las Vegas Night event was held in 2019, and Holl said they relied on volunteer dealers from Imperial Pacific International to accommodate patrons.
Still, she said, they were able to sell many raffle tickets this year but were still finalizing the count.
“It was a successful event,” she added. “People were waiting for the return of Las Vegas Night,”
Rotary Club of Saipan President-elect Joann Aquino said the funds raised will go toward the community programs that they will implement in the new Rotary Year, which starts in July.
“We have a lot of youth programs coming up in my term,” she said. “I have a lot of projects lined up for literacy, education, and the environment.”
Aquino said they also intend to support a disabilities inclusive playground.
