DOMINIC Kieffer won the championship flight title of the NMC Foundation’s Golf Open for the second time in a row with a dominating performance at LoaLao Bay Golf & Resort over the weekend.
On day 1, Saturday, on the west course, Kieffer was already ahead of the competition after shooting a gross of 37 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine for a total gross score of 73.
Although the weather conditions on the east course on day 2, Sunday were not ideal, Kieffer greatly improved his score with a sterling performance.
On the front nine, he shot a gross of 31. On the back nine, his downswing and precision placements earned him a gross of 36 to end the day five-under par with a gross total of 67 and a two-day gross of 140.
Asked about his performance, Kieffer said it was all about “knowing your limits. I didn’t try any shots that I didn’t know I could hit.”
For him, the hardest hole was #11 on the east course on day 2 because of the crosswinds.
“I ended up with a birdie not because it was an easy hole, but because I just had a really good shot,” he said.
His easiest hole was #14 due to the straight downwind conditions. It was a par 5 hole, but he got there in two strokes to take home the championship flight trophy and $800 cash prize.
In second place was Franco Santos, who received $500 for shooting a gross total of 76 on day one and 79 on day two for a two-day gross total of 155.
Ned Norita beat Gi Yeong Kim in a scorecard playoff to finish third and win $300. Both shared a gross total of 164.
