The MHS Glee Club ‘Rhythm ‘N Harmony’ won two gold awards at Guam’s Tumon Bay Music Festival.
MARIANAS High School’s Glee Club, known as “Rhythm ‘n Harmony,” returned triumphantly from yet another stellar performance at Guam’s Tumon Bay Music Festival. Led by Donna Bartolo, Club President Jane Mozunder, and teacher advisor Harold Easton, the talented ensemble clinched two gold awards, capturing the hearts of audiences and judges alike.
With a diverse repertoire of over 20 musical and dance numbers spanning various genres, the MHS Glee Club captivated audiences at five Guam schools and participated in the TBMF Festival chorus, Concordia. Additionally, they were privileged to attend an exclusive workshop facilitated by Dr. Randall Johnson of Guam’s choral group “The Latte Tones,” enriching their musical journey.
Amidst the Festival’s bustling energy, the MHS Glee Club extended camaraderie to fellow performers, supporting acts such as the Hopwood Middle School Glee Club and the Marianas High School Dolphin Concert Band.
Given their achievement with the Gold awards, the Glee Club was invited to give their command performance at the TBMF “Finale Concert.” Only selected competing groups receive the opportunity to perform during the last concert of the festival.
Beyond the stage, the Glee Club toured and performed at elementary schools across Guam, including Saint Anthony Catholic School, Adacao Elementary School, Machananao Elementary School, and Upi Elementary School with many of these schools still recovering from the damage left by Typhoon Mawar.
Established in 2010, Rhythm ‘n Harmony Glee Club has garnered acclaim both locally and nationally. With a legacy of excellence spanning over a decade, the group has consistently clinched gold medals and accolades at TBMF and the International Thespian Festival in the United States. Their commitment to musical excellence extends beyond performances, as they actively engage in community events and theatrical productions, enriching the cultural landscape of Saipan.
The Glee Club is part of Marianas High School’s initiative to inspire and nurture emerging talents, educating students about the opportunities of performing arts as a skill set and a possible career in the future.
