Saipan First Flower Festival blossoms tonight

(Office of the Saipan Mayor) — Tonight, Friday evening, marks a momentous occasion for the community of Saipan as the first Flower Festival commences at Sugar King Park. Local Girls Marianas cofounders Ashley Pangelinan and Tiara Deleon Guerrero, alongside Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, extend a warm invitation to all members of the community to partake in the festivities.

The Marianas Flower Festival is a celebration of the vibrant culture and spirit of the Marianas Islands. Through a rich tapestry of local talent, performances, and the showcasing of indigenous flora, the festival promises an evening of joy, community, and celebration.

Highlights of the festival include stunning floral arrangements and installations crafted by local florist artists, representing the diverse array of native Marianas flora. Interactive workshops, featuring local artisans and small businesses, offer attendees the opportunity to engage with traditional crafts and learn from skilled practitioners.

Speaking on behalf of Local Girls Marianas, cofounder Tiara Deleon Guerrero expresses her hope for robust community support: “We are hoping that the community comes and supports all of our locally owned businesses whether it’s food or merchandise and meet a lot of our floral artists. It’s a good reference point to see people’s work and art.”

Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, emphasizing the importance of community involvement, states, “The Flower Festival presents an opportunity for us to come together in celebration of our distinct culture and heritage, infused with a modern twist. I encourage everyone to join us for an evening of fun and most of all an appreciation for the beauty of our Marianas Islands.”

The festival promises an evening of family-friendly activities, including food and beverages, raffles, and entertainment for all ages. Attendees can immerse themselves in the beauty of Marianas culture while supporting local businesses and artisans.

Join us Friday evening, April 5, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sugar King Park as we come together to celebrate the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of the Marianas Islands at the Saipan First Flower Festival.
