HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man was accused of choking a woman and biting her face.
On Monday, officers with the Guam Police Department responded to a reported disturbance at a Dededo residence where a woman told officers Max Siren “had choked her and bit her face,” a magistrate’s complaint stated.
According to charging documents, the woman came home from work and found Siren, a man known to her, asleep on a couch and appearing to be drunk. The woman explained Siren was supposed to be watching a 6-month-old child.
After the woman woke Siren up, he got angry, and the two started to argue. As the woman was walking away from Siren, he allegedly pushed her back and the woman fell.
“The defendant then stood over her, grabbed the victim’s neck with his left hand and choked the victim, which was ‘blocking her airway,’” the complaint stated.
The woman subsequently scratched Siren’s body and punched his face to escape. Siren allegedly tried to kick the woman, but she was able to dodge the kick.
“The defendant then mounted on top of her and bit the right side of her face,” stated the complaint, adding Siren left the residence after the woman said she would call the police.
Officers did an injury check on the woman and saw bruising to her right cheek and chin, visible bite marks on the woman’s cheek and scratches on the woman’s left neck area, according to the complaint.
Siren was located about 15 minutes later by police and was arrested. The complaint stated Siren smelled of alcohol, was slurring his words and had bloodshot, watery eyes.
Siren was charged with strangulation and family violence as third-degree felonies and family violence as a misdemeanor.
Police vehicles are parked next to the Dededo Precinct on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.
