BEFORE heading for Palau, acting Gov. Diego T. Benavente signed into law four bills, three of which would fund various capital improvement projects amounting to $1.3 million.
H.B. 13-3, authored by House Floor Leader Jesus Attao, R-Saipan, is now Public Law 13-11. It will appropriate $39,317 for the repair and maintenance of government facilities.
Another Attao legislation, H.B. 13-6, is now Public Law 130-13. It appropriates $800,000 for capital improvement projects.
Attao also introduced H.B. 13-4 which is now Public Law 13-12. It provides for the “continuous appropriations” of the ambulance fees collected by the Department of Public Health.
The new law states that “the repair, maintenance and upgrading of ambulance equipment and supplies is a necessary but continuous process and the time-consuming task of making separate appropriations for these life-saving essentials is unnecessary.”
Public Law 13-12 requires the Department of Finance to establish separate units for Saipan, Tinian and Rota that will handle the fees collected for the Ambulance Fee Revolving Fund Account.
H.B. 13-69, which was authored by Reps. Gloria DLC. Cabrera, R-Saipan, and Francisco DLG. Aldan, R-Saipan, is now Public Law 13-14. It appropriates $460,589 for various road paving projects in Precinct 4.
