Students told to stay away from drugs

KAGMAN Elementary School Principal Ignacia Demapan urged the 150 sixth grade graduates of the school to stay away from drugs.

Demapan advised the students to continue their secondary education and strive to become peacebuilders and drug-free.

“I just want them to continue their education and continue to become peacebuilders and drug-free persons. They should love the journey of education and finish what they are doing,” she said.

According to various surveys, the use of illegal drugs is a common problem that school authorities encounter among students taking their secondary education.

In the CNMI, reports from the Department of Public Safety showed that some students in junior and high schools had been caught smoking marijuana.

These students were referred to the Division of Youth Services for proper action and guidance.

Koblerville Elementary School Principal Ling Taman asked the school’s sixth grade students to do their best.

Taman stressed that education plays a major role in shaping a person’s future.

The Public School System estimated that over 900 sixth grade students from both private and public schools throughout the CNMI will be promoted to junior high school this coming school year.
