TWENTY-two days after the murder of Mostafa Faruk Parvez, his remains have yet to be flown to his home in Barisal, Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi community in the CNMI is asking the assistance of the local government for the immediate repatriation of the remains of Parvez, Rabby Saed told Variety.
“We are asking the governor’s help,” said Saed, the public relations officer of the Saipan Muslim Association said.
Saed, a close friend of Parvez, said the Bangladeshi community is appealing to the administration to ask Parvez’s former employer to facilitate the return of his remains.
Representatives from the Bangladeshi community were scheduled to meet with Gov. Juan N. Babauta on Tuesday. However, their 10:30 a.m. meeting was rescheduled by the Office of the Governor.
“As far as our religion is concerned, Parvez has to be buried immediately,” Saed said. He said the victim’s mother is already worried about the situation.
Saed, a poker attendant, was found dead on May 22 by his employer at Candi’s Poker Arcade in Tanapag
Saed’s body is still at the morgue of the Commonwealth Health Center. After his death, the Saipan Muslim community held a prayer service on May 28.
Parvez employer was “off-island,” Variety learned yesterday.
