IN the past, many issues brought forward moved peoples heart and soon died out because of non-follow-up. “Man parehu ha’. Siempre matai la’lo. Atan ha?” (They are all the same. It will die again. Just watch). Literally an expression of such cases. Lao afa’ñelos, I will never give up until the “sakman” (flying proa) comes sailing in.
As a matter of fact during my temporary silence, I have been doing my assignment as stated earlier for public presentation. This is why I am inviting the general public to attend a public hearing/meeting scheduled for next Friday, June 28 beginning at 6 p.m. at Joeten-Kiyu Public Library’s conference room. The meeting will focus on the following: Rep. Stanley T. Torres’s H.J.R. 13-11; Vice Speaker Manuel A. Tenorio’s H.R. 13-055; a detailed summary for the development of Sengsong Chamorro; the purpose of the Sengsong Chamorro; detailed summary for generating revenue; establishment of a non-profit organization (by-laws and charter of incorporation); the organizational chart; the creation of standing committees; and time line.
Aside from the above agenda, there will be an exhibition of my personal collections of paintings and drawings, crafts and artifacts including a miniature/scale model of the proposed site. After the presentation, the audience is highly urged to participate in the questions and answer session and encouraged to join in the establishment of the non-profit organization.
Please reserve this day, Friday, June 28. Mark your calendar and don’t forget to invite as many as people as you can who believed in this cause. Spread the word!
Lastly, to those of you who have the petition folders, please bring it with you on this public meeting.NOEL QUITUGUA
