KOROR (Palau Horizon) — Tourist arrivals for April slowly improved after it registered a drop of only 1 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Palau Visitors Authority.
In April, there were 4,370 visitors compared to 4,389 in the same month last year.
The Japan market still registered the highest number of tourists for April with 1,625 visitors. Compared to the same month last year, this figure grew by 3 percent. The Taiwan market recorded the second-highest number of visitors with 1,123 tourists—a 10 percent increase.
The third highest number of visitors came from the United States and Canada with 502 arrivals—a 6 percent increase compared to the same month of 2001.
The PVA report also noted that for April, visitor arrivals via Continental Airlines dropped to 8 percent while tourist arrivals via Far Eastern Air Transport increased by 23 percent.
