HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — People planning trips into or out of Guam during spring break can expect to see some changes to flights offered by airlines. The air service changes bring some positives, according to the executive manager’s report given to airport board members on Friday.
“This is for the month of March, and comparing it to February, United is introducing a fifth Narita flight effective March 31,” A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority Deputy Executive Manager Artemio Hernandez said. “We have Jin Airways. They’re decreasing their Inchon flight from two times daily to one time daily, but they resume March 31 to the second flight daily.”
The change in air activity also includes Korean Airlines decreasing offerings from two flights daily to one daily flight.
“We understand there’s been some corporate changes or corporate adjustments in Korean Airlines as it relates to the merger with Asiana. We are not too sure if that has any indication on this impact. But, we are engaging with them to see if they are going to be increasing back to their two times daily,” Hernandez said.
“Japan Airlines, they’re operating just March 20, 21 and 27, but they’re increasing back to five times weekly effective March 31, flights to and from Narita,” Hernandez added.
Asiana Airlines is operating 8 charters from Kansai in March.
“Those dates are March 8, 11, 14, 17, 23, 26 and 29. Good indication, we get a new clientele, kind of flying and running around the airport in Asiana,” Hernandez said.
In terms of seat capacity, Hernandez said fiscal year 2024, as compared to fiscal year 2023, has a 40% seat capacity increase for January.
“There’s a 37% increase in seat capacity, year over year, for February and then there’s for the month of March is a 14% increase in seat capacity,” Hernandez said.
Departing tourists enter the A.B. Won Pat International Airport on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, in Tiyan.
