Tenorio will be named personnel director

FORMER Rep. Juan I. Tenorio, the newly confirmed board member of the Civil Service Commission, will be named personnel director, it was learned.

“The administration needs straightforward persons like him,” a highly placed administration official said yesterday.

Other administration officials, who also declined to be identified, said “key changes” in other departments and other agencies will follow.

Tenorio, in a separate interview, said Gov. Juan N. Babauta offered him the personnel director’s position.

“I accepted,” Tenorio said. He added that there would be an official announcement in the next few days.

Tenorio said he supports the administration’s goal to “remove politics” from CSC and the Office of Personnel Management.

“I intend to revive the integrity of the commission and OPM,” Tenorio said.

Tenorio said he has to resign from the CSC board before he could be named personnel director. Acting Personnel Officer Mathilde Rosario will be named special assistant for political affair and personnel matters, it was learned.

Rosario also served as special assistant for personnel matters in the previous administration.
