| (CFL) – The Defending CFL Champion, Budweiser Predators, do battle with arch-rival Miller Lite Barbarians in tomorrow’s Commonwealth Football League game, 10am at Hopwood Junior High Field. In last Saturday’s season opener, the Predators smashed the Verizon Blaze 41-0 while the Barbarians looked on as Miller Lite had the first week bye. Several Budweiser players were banged up in their contest against Verizon, most notably, receiver Chris Nelson who broke his arm. Also out for the season, last season’s Predator work-horse rusher, Glenn Palacios. With those players out for the season, Miller Lite looks to capitalize and “take-it-to-the-Predators” this season. The Barbarians feel they have improved from last season with several new players, having one year of experience in the books, and a new head coach: Clyde Lemons. But don’t count out the Bud Predator’s despite their injuries sustained in pre-season and during game one last week. Lest we forget… the Predators have won all 8 of their games played in the CFL’s history… Bud beat Miller handily three times last season… Last week’s win by Bud was a blow-out… and the Predator’s offensive and defensive units are running on all cylinders, minus the mentioned injuries. The key for a Miller Lite victory over Bud, the Barbarians have to be hot from the outset of the game, play with patience, maintain their cool-heads, and let their natural and raw talents shine positively. The key for a Budweiser victory over Miller Lite, fill-in for Chris Nelson… but the Predators already have at least 6 more able receivers, and just keep doing what has been working for them so far in the CFL… the secret to winning football games… the Predator way. So who will win tomorrow’s encounter? The only way to find out is by showing up at Hopwood Field Saturday morning at 10am. One things for sure… whichever team wins in the battle of the trenches will win the game. |
