Governor has until May 1 to submit FY ’03 budget

THE Babauta administration has until May 1 to submit its proposed spending package for fiscal year 2003, the Office of Management and Budget said yesterday.

Public Law 3-86, or the Commonwealth Budget Act, allows the new governor to submit his first budget proposal 30 days from the April 1 deadline. The new governor can also submit its revised budget on Aug. 1, and not on July 1.

“The deadline for budget submission is given an additional 30 days, but this only happens every four years,” said Jack C. Blanco, the person in-charge for the review of all requests for reprogramming and personnel actions at OMB.
