Man allegedly hit woman’s head with pipe

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Austin Jermaine Guerrero, 26, according to a witness, said, “See what you made me do” after he allegedly hit his girlfriend on the head with a metal pipe, sending her to the hospital and leaving her unable to speak with detectives for days.

A complaint filed against Guerrero in the Superior Court of Guam said the victim was in urgent critical condition when she arrived at the hospital on Tuesday and admitted to the intensive care unit with traumatic brain injury and head trauma, injuries allegedly caused by Guerrero.

According to Guam Police Department officers who responded to the assault complaint, it rained heavily in those early morning hours, but “a pool of suspected blood was visible on the ground.”

The witness told police that he saw the victim and a male engage in a “loud argument.”

“And that the male struck the victim on the head with a metal pipe that caused a loud sound and that the male stated, ‘See what you made me do? Let’s go to the hospital because you fell, right, par?” the complaint said.

The witness called GPD, while Guerrero fled the scene in a silver Dodge Caliber.

When officers spoke with the victim two days after the incident, she said she and the defendant borrowed a car to go retrieve their belongings at the witness’ house.

“She stated that during the car ride, (the) defendant became angry at her and stated he doesn’t’ like the way that the witness treats her and that (the) witness constantly flirts with her,” the complaint said.

The victim told police she could not remember anything else apart from arriving at the witness’ residence.

Police were able to secure surveillance footage from the witness’ house, which showed the defendant arriving and departing the residence.

“The footage shows (the) victim exiting the vehicle with (the) defendant to congregate behind the car. The vehicle ultimately speeds away before police arrive,” the complaint said.

The investigation led investigators to Guerrero, who they said agreed to an interview.

“He stated that he and (the) victim did, in fact, borrow his grandfather’s Dodge Caliber to drive over to (the) witness’ house and that an argument ensued on the way there. He then ended any further questioning,” the complaint said.

Guerrero, who was a convict on felony release at the time of the incident, was subsequently arrested.

On Saturday, he was charged with aggravated assault as a third-degree felony, family violence as a third-degree felony, reckless conduct as a misdemeanor and commission of a felony while on release as a violation.
