During the board’s regular meeting last April 4, Sablan asked the regents to reconsider their decision accepting his resignation as college president.
But even if the board had rescinded its decision, Sablan would still have to step down because his two-year contract as NMC president expired last March 29, authorities said.
The board, meanwhile, has directed NMC’s human resources office to announce the vacancy for the position of college president.
A committee has also been formed to evaluate all applicants.
Sablan, who served the college for the past 18 years, can re-apply.
Dr. Barbara Moir, the vice president for academic affairs, is NMC’s acting president.
