Police face blank wall in bank robbery

POLICE are facing a blank wall in their investigation of the robbery at City Trust Bank in Gualo Rai.

“Right now we don’t have any good leads. We are still asking the community’s help,” according to Deputy Public Safety Commissioner for Administration Franklin Babauta during a press conference on Friday.

Babauta, however, expressed optimism that the police would soon solve the case.

“We are confident that we can solve this thing. We just need a little bit of information,” said Babauta, adding that he and Deputy Commissioner for Operations Santiago Tudela are closely monitoring the case.

The Crime Stoppers Program is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects, said Babauta, who is also serving as Crime Stoppers coordinator.

Tudela urged the community to continue helping DPS in solving not just the bank robbery, but other robberies, homicides and burglaries.

DPS can be more effective if it has the strong support of the general public, Tudela said.

Two masked men, one armed with a gun, robbed City Trust Bank of an estimated $6,000 cash last April 12.
