‘Hats off to Mayor Tudela!’

FOR many years, I have never seen an aggressive work done by our Saipan mayor on an islandwide cleanup campaign. I certainly would like to see our good mayor continue to do an excellent job in making our island a much cleaner and pleasant place to live. This cleanup campaign not only benefits our island and our community, but also our tourists visiting our island everyday.

My hats are off for Mayor Juan B. Tudela and his staff for their cleanup campaign and I must say that the cleanup is the result of Mayor Tudela’s efforts in his first 100 days in office and not someone else, as claimed. We, the community and businesses, should do our share and stand behind Mayor Tudela to continue to support his cleanup campaign!

After all, this is a once in a life time chance to have a good mayor like him elected. It doesn’t matter whether you’re Democrat, Republican, Reform, or Covenant. This is the kind of mayor we need. Let’s keep supporting him!

To the lawmakers on Capitol Hill, keep pumping those money to Mayor Tudela’s budget and you will see the big difference on how this money was put to good use. You will not regret it. Instead, you will benefit from Mayor Tudela’s effort in trying to make our island and our community cleaner, safer and livelier.

Also, I would like to recognize the Department of Public Works for its efforts in working together with the Mayor’s Office to clean up our island. But there is a problem that I think DPW should address when cleaning around the roads. They must pick-up their pile of debris after they clean the side of the road and not leave them behind. It’s nice to see the roadside very clean, but those debris left behind must be removed, especially those encroaching on private properties.
