KOROR (Palau Horizon) —Members of the House of Delegates are conducting a separate oversight inquiry into the government’s capital improvement projects to identify which projects further need assistance.
Del. Augustine Mesebeluu said the House was supposed to have an oversight meeting with the Senate, but the delegates chose to conduct their own inquiry due to the heavy workload they face.
“We were approached by the senators to conduct an inquiry with them, but some of the delegates said they would make their own study,” Mesebeluu said.
He said the delegates made a visit to Package B of the Compact Road project in Babeldaob.
“We are impressed with the work. Hopefully, we could visit other sites before the end of this month,” he said.
Del. Lucio Ngiraiwet, chairman of the House Committee on CIPs, said the roadwork has greatly progressed since storm Utor.
“Compared to the last time, we were very impressed with the progress it has shown. We went down to the area and we saw how it progressed for the last two months,” he said.
He said the committee was conducting the inquiry upon the request of the other House members.
Ngiraiwet said aside from the Compact Road project, the members also visited the power plants in Peleliu, Angaur and Kayangel.
