Women’s Affairs to recycle garment waste

THE governor’s special assistant for Women’s Affairs on Rota is asking garment manufacturers to support the agency’s effort to recycle garment scraps and other by-products.

“This would be part of the government’s efforts to recycle garment waste products,” Rose Q. Manglona told Variety. She said they had been meeting with garment manufacturers to inform them about the government’s efforts.

Manglona said Press Secretary Cecilia T. Celes and Rota’s lawmakers had also signified their support.

“We intend to get as much as we could because we plan to create many good projects out of the waste products,” Manglona said.

At least two garment factories have already provided them with scrap materials, she added.

The governor’s Public Information Office and Rota’s lawmakers are supporting WAO’s after-school outreach programs for mothers who want to learn recycling, arts and crafts.

Manglona said the donated materials will also be used for the uniforms of Rota’s manamko’.
