Ford managers gather on Saipan

SOME 30 automotive experts and managers from nine different countries are participating in the three-day Asia-Pacific Parts and Service Manager Conference of Ford Motor Co., which wraps up today at the Hyatt Regency Saipan.

Australia, Singapore, Mongolia, Japan, Hong Kong, Brunei, South Korea, Guam and the CNMI are represented in the event hosted this year by Joeten Motors Co. led by its general manager, Carlos P. Camacho.

Joeten Motors is the authorized distributor of Ford vehicles in the CNMI.

“The end result of this is to build strong relationship, with emphasis on 2002 and beyond. We want to make sure we are all working to meet the same goal, customer satisfaction, selling more vehicles, getting more repeat buyers,” according to Shane Nelson, regional parts and service director.

The event consists of auto-skills for technicians, meetings for dealership management team, individual training on customer handling processes and discussions on the progress of Ford in the region.

“We also have discussions on the state of Ford, what’s happened, where we are going and more importantly, where do we want to take the region,” said Shane.

Kelvin Duenas, Joeten Motors service manager, said the arrival to Saipan of participants from various countries will not only enhance Ford’s market strength, but will also boost the CNMI’s tourism.

“We are happy and proud that Ford picked Saipan to host this event. I also want to stress that even after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Ford made profit,” said Duenas.

Nelson said the foreign participants were enjoying Saipan’s hospitality, weather and tourist spots.
