Court drops case vs Tinian councilman

THE Superior Court has dropped the case against Tinian Municipal Councilor Edwin P. Aldan who allegedly assaulted a teen-ager last year.

During a hearing on Tinian, Associate Judge David Wiseman dismissed the charges of assault and battery, assault and disturbing the peace after the Attorney General’s Office moved to drop the case.

Assistant Attorney General Aaron Romano, on behalf of the government, said that based on the investigation of AGO and the Department of Public Safety’s Internal Affairs, “the commonwealth has concluded that probable cause does not exist to support the charges.” Attorney Perry B. Inos represented Aldan in the case.

It was alleged that on Nov. 14, Aldan struck Troy B. Manglona repeatedly with his hands and fists, causing “bruising to (the victim’s) face and physical pain.”

Variety learned that it was the 19-year-old Manglona who filed a police brutality complaint against the defendant.
