2 states to hold elections

KOROR (Palau Horizon) — Kayangel and Ngarchelong are all set for their upcoming state elections. In Kayangel, four new politicians and 11 incumbent state legislators will contest the state elections on May 28.

Ruben Inawo, Thomas Obak, Katy M. Banrarii and Uchel Naito have filed their candidacies for state legislative seats along with 11 incumbent lawmakers: Francisca Skiwo, Elmis Ruluked, Ricky Ngiraked, Johnson Banrarii, Jack Ngiraked, Grana Tkoel, Roman Mongami, Jones Hosei, Harrington Olebuu, Noah Kemesong and Teruo Chiokai. Incumbent legislator Stevenson Mokisang is not seeking re-election.

Tadau Ruluked is challenging incumbent state Gov. Harris Kambalang. The Palau Election Commission set May 13 as the deadline for the filing of candidacies.
