SEVERAL sports and recreational facilities in the commonwealth need improvement and maintenance, according to the CNMI Youth Congress.
The youth senators are requesting the Division of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs to improve the maintenance of these outdoor facilities.
“We need to have better facilities. Our facilities here do not have everything,” Youth Speaker Luis John DLG. Castro said.
Castro said they will transmit their Resolution 4-08 which will formalize the youth senators’ request for the improvement of these recreational facilities.
Introduced by Castro, the resolution was adopted by the 24 youth senators on April 19, citing the conditions of various sporting facilities that “desperately need repair and renovations.”
The improvements should focus on proper lighting, resurfacing of public courts and installations of bleachers.
The youth senators are also conducting an on-site inspection of the various facilities on Saipan, Tinian and Rota to assist the Division of Parks and Recreation and DCCA in identifying the areas that need improvements, Castro said.
