TWO persons rescued two injured men from a boat that capsized at the Sugar Dock Channel on Sunday morning.
Amado Verdaguer sustained a three-inch cut on the forehead and was transported by emergency medical technicians to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment, police said.
Verdaguer’s companion, Jesus Kintoki, sustained minor injury and refused treatment.
Verdaguer told the police that after a couple of hours of trolling, he and Kintoki decided to return because of the rough waters.
Verdaguer called his house to inform the family that he was coming in at Sugar Dock.
While they were heading toward the Sugar Dock Channel close to the reef, a big wave hit their boat, causing the 15-foot McKee craft to flip over.
Verdaguer said that when his boat capsized, he fell into the water and his head hit a rock.
Kintoki was able to assist Verdaguer to the water surface.
Rodney Reyes and Alden Igisiar, who learned about the incident, arrived at the scene using jet skis from Big Boyz and rescued the victims.
The rescuers brought Verdaguer and Kintoki to Sugar Dock, where two Boating Safety Unit officers arrived.
The police officers, using two jet skis from Big Boyz, proceeded to Sugar Dock to check the boat.
The officers, with the help of two other civilians, flipped the boat over and towed it back to Sugar Dock.
