A NINE-year-old girl was injured after she was struck by a car while she was on a bicycle in San Vicente Sunday afternoon, police said yesterday.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said the girl sustained head injuries and minor abrasions on the leg and foot.
The girl was immediately brought to the intensive care unit at the Commonwealth Health Center. She was discharged on Wednesday and was in good condition, Muna said.
Investigation showed that a 19-year-old person was operating the car when the girl on a bicycle traveling south made a left turn.
The girl was on the left side of the road traveling on the wrong way, Muna said.
The vehicle struck the bicycle, ejecting the girl who landed on the eastbound lane a few feet away.
At the time of the crash, the girl was not wearing a helmet as required by law for children under 12 years old.
The driver of the vehicle was not arrested.
