THE Marianas Visitors Authority can now hire its own professional and technical marketing staff to work at its satellite offices in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and China after House Bill 13-79 was signed into law Friday by acting Gov. Diego T. Benavente.
“MVA needs to have the ability to hire non-resident workers in these areas for which there is in an insufficient resident labor pool. This bill will assist MVA in meeting its goal of enhancing the tourism industry of the commonwealth,” Benavente said.
The authors of the bill, which is now Public Law 13-5, are Rep. Ramon A. Tebuteb, R-Saipan, and Speaker Heinz S. Hofschneider, R-Saipan. P.L. 13-5 gives MVA the authority to hire non-resident workers from the day the law became effective until Sept. 30, 2005.
