KOROR (Palau Horizon) — A team of high level Australian Defense officials will arrive in Palau.
The purpose of their visit is to conduct the annual Australia-Palau Defense Talks on May 7 with representatives from the Office of the President, the relevant ministries and the staff and ship crew from the Marine Law Enforcement Division.
In 1996, the Australian government provided Palau with a Pacific class patrol boat. This was named the PSS President H.I. Remeliik.
Since then, the Royal Australian Navy has continuously provided a maritime surveillance adviser, currently Lt. Cmdr. Bob Heffey, and two technical advisers, Chief Petty Officer Douglas Stockham and Warrant Officer James Tafe, to provide professional and technical training and maintenance advice for the safe and effective operation of the national patrol boat.
