KOROR (Palau Horizon) — President Tommy Remengesau says he will find the additional funding required by medical referral program.
Remengesau said since the services provided by the program are “very critical,” he will tap other sources to sustain the program.
He said, he will ask the legislature, the Olbiil Era Kelulau, for a supplemental budget, which could be taken from the interest earnings of the Compact funds.
His administration may also get the money from the National Hospital’s Trust Fund.
He said despite the government’s cash flow situation, money is available to help support the program.
“While the present budget system is difficult, the budget reallocation I’m asking the OEK to act on will release available funds,” he said.
He added, “There are funds but I can’t touch those money without authorization.”
