HOPWOOD Middle School has yet to taste defeat in the girls middle school division of the SBL-PSS Interscholastic Softball League SY23-24. On Saturday, at the Dandan baseball field, they collected their third consecutive win by crushing Mount Carmel School, 18-0.

HMS’ scoring spree started in the top of the first inning. HMS’ first four at bat rounded the bases via walk, barely breaking a sweat before the first out was made. Three more runs were then added via walk to give HMS a 7-0 lead before MCS snagged the two outs needed to stop the bleeding.

In the bottom half, MCS tried to get back in the game with two players on base, but to no avail as  HMS recorded three outs.

HMS continued to deliver on the offensive end, scoring four more runs in the top of the second inning highlighted by Lailey Teregeyo’s 3-RBI triple to extend the deficit, 11-0.

In the third inning, MCS managed to catch a break as their pitcher, Miana Dela Cruz, struck out all three batters, but they suffered the same fate as HMS answered with three consecutive outs of their own.

HMS then solidified their lead with seven more runs in the top of the fourth inning to end the game early, 18-0, via the mercy rule.

Joining the winner’s circle were  Chacha Oceanview Middle School, which outlasted Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 14-10, and Tanapag Middle School, which routed the Non-Public School team (Saipan Community School-Grace Christian Academy-Saipan International School), 20-2.
