THE TRUTH is the author of the letter to the editor about Rep. Propst and I have something in common, as neither one of us can get our leaders to listen, thus Me TOO! But to assert Rep. Propst is in a position to address and fix all the issues he listed was ridiculous and a pathetic attempt to subliminally attack Rep. Propst. But I’m sure most readers with common sense and knowledge about how our government works KNOW the letter was absurd and even politically motivated. The letter begins with deniability of complaining about Rep. Propst and even inferred they wrote to Rep. Propst because he is KNOWN to be a real listener and he is active in his precinct working FOR the People outside the Halls of the legislature. But they ended the letter with an all-out attack on Propst that sounded like they were talking out of the side of their neck figuratively. That letter wasn’t right nor fair politics — for TRUE!
It was obvious the letter was politically motivated with the attack at the end of the letter contrary to what they said in the beginning and the only question is WHO or WHICH one of Propst opposition was behind the pathetic political assassination attempt given the Delegate Race. I had said that I was through with politics and I am, as I’m not trying to tell anyone who to vote for anymore. But I will share what I would tell my students about this because “all it takes for ugly and evil to survive and prosper is for the good women/men to do or say NOTHING”! I would simply tell my students the TRUTH about judging candidates OBJECTIVELY based on “their experience, track record of work, and the confidence you have in that person to get the job done” but not SUBJECTIVELY with favoritism & biasness for some reason like being family or having some kind of degree or accomplishment alone and this is NOT about YOU but the entire CNMI!!! WE must choose RIGHT & BEST, One People FOR One Direction.
IF we look objectively at the facts: 1. Experience in the legislature – Propst has five consecutive terms (10 years) of experience in the Legislature creating laws while the other candidates have NO experience. 2. Track Record – Rep. Propst is the only candidate in the Delegate race with a real track record for not only working on the floor of the legislature but also in the community helping HIS People and even the stray dog problem, as he is a real & unconditional HUMANITARIAN. But the track record of his opposition is virtually unknown when it comes to working with Representatives & Senators in creating laws and working in the community, and their popularity alone should never be an overriding factor. 3. Confidence – The confidence OF the People in Rep. Propst has more than been proven with him being re-elected five straight time and two of those times he didn’t even have to campaign putting up signs just to shut-up the ugly politics of his opposition who were trying to FORCE Propst to quit. But the confidence in his opposition in the Delegate race is yet to be proven BY the People to the level of being like Propst who is well known as a person OF, FOR and BY the People, which is the same ultimate test that Delegate Kilili has passed over the years. This election shouldn’t fool anyone if they look at the qualifications like we teach in school and don’t pay attention to the ridiculous poli-tricks of the you-know-who they are and if not get informed.
This is what I would tell my students in Government class if the letter or the Delegate race had come up which is the TRUTH that no-one can deny — teachers CANNOT and DO NOT lie to students. So, you can accept the TRUTHS I just mentioned or play IGNORANT when the time comes!!! Believe me or not we have some very smart & aware students who DO ask these kinds of questions about who is the best candidate, especially in some of our heated elections. So, if the letter to Rep. Propst was meant to hurt his chances I’m sure it backfired with many citizens, especially after they read or hear about this Op ed by Mr. Bennett. I’m not going to get involved in a back & forth with our politics anymore but I will never just sit by and be silent when I can “SEE & KNOW” that it was an ugly letter` being used to perpetrate BS on Rep. Propst and the People of the CNMI whom I truly care about. I’ve given readers the truth about that letter and now it’s up to YOU to do the RIGHT THING when the time comes, which is all I can do — it’s a NO-Brainer even for High School students.
One People One Direction.
